Be Ready to Answer Common Buyer Questions About Your Home
Potential buyers will have questions about the property they’re interested in purchasing. If you’re represented by a Realtor®, he or she usually knows ahead of time the types of questions that’ll be asked. Here are some of the most common:
What are the annual property taxes? While a home might have a great sale price, property taxes can add significantly to a mortgage payment.
Is there a Homeowners Association? If so, what does it cover and what are the fees? In some neighborhoods the fees can be several hundred dollars per month.
What are the typical utility costs. If an electric bill is outrageously high, that can sway a potential buyer’s decision. What one family uses won’t necessarily be what another family uses but it gives a good idea of what to anticipate.
What is the age and condition of the roof? While this information is often included in the listing description, buyers will still ask about it. Replacing a roof can be a very expensive endeavor - not to mention roof leaks can cause extensive damage.
Sometimes buyers will ask why you’re selling the home, what the neighbors are like, how the schools are and your favorite local amenities.
